1923
A.J. de Bie Sr. sets up his own business.
ABI focuses increasingly on mechanical and electrical repairs over the years.
1940
ABI is strengthened by the arrival of the second generation: A.J. de Bie Jr.
1948
ABI specializes in drive technology.
Initially only as a trading company. Some suppliers from those days (such as Heidolph and Schneider Electric Berger Lahr) have remained our partners to this day.
1955
ABI launches KMF
Our own production line for electric motors and gear motors.
The brand name KMF is now called ABI.
1959
Company moves to Haarlem.
ABI moves into business premises on De Witstraat in the centre of the city.
1975
Paul de Bie, the third generation, joins ABI.
The company is strengthened by the arrival of the third generation of the De Bie family.
1982
Foundation of a motion control engineering department.
1986
Company moves to the Waarderpolder industrial area in Haarlem.
ABI grows rapidly, so new premises are built outside the city centre.
1997
ABI marks its 75th year.
And the company continues to grow, so the floor space is further increased.
2006
The fourth generation joins ABI.
Jolanda de Bie, the first of the fourth generation, joins the company.
2012
Fourth generation at full strength.
The company is strengthened with the arrival of Peter Paul de Bie, completing the fourth generation.
2013
ABIflexx introduction.
Alongside the traditional activities in drive technology and motion control, ABI now also focuses on robotics.
2015
ABI is a healthy, growing company.
